After School Enrichment Programs
(ages 6-15)

The After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) operates Monday through Thursday afternoon. The ASEP provides a safe haven for children and youth to participate in academic enrichment activities and received adult supervision. It also provides nutritional snacks and incorporates a number of additional programs:

• Educational field trips and related activities
• After School Tutorial/Enrichment Program
• Summer Day Camp
• Computer Training
• Art/Crafts
• Drama/History
• Family Support Group
• Substance Abuse Prevention Program
• Adult Literacy Program
• Right Moves
• Weekly Food Drive
• Book Club
• Time To Read Program (Time Warner, Inc.) teaches literacy skills to upper elementary age children.
• Ready To Learn Program (WTVI 42) teaches reading, writing and vocabulary through books and television shows such as Arthur and Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Students of the ASEP have won Dean Smith Awards for Education Excellence in 1999 and second place in 2000.


Support Group (Middle & High School Students

The Support Group provides assistance and instruction in a number of subjects that will help students resist negative peer pressure.


Summer Day Camp/Youth At Risk Project

Summer Day Camp/Youth At Risk Project operates Monday through Friday during the summers. It is designed to prevent delinquent behavior among young people ages 6-15. It offers reading, math, science, computer and life skills. The Day Camp also provides field trips and other recreational activities.

The NFRC also hosts community meetings and provides links to other services and organizations of interest to residents.

• Volunteer Tutoring
• Field Trips (chaperones, provide tickets, etc.)
• Donating materials/supplies for the programs
